Research Interest: Population Genetics and Bioinformatics

Zhengting is a senior student at Yuanpei College, PKU, majoring in Biological Science. He is using microsatellite (Short Tandem Repeat) DNA as a highly variable genetic marker to solve population genetic issues, e.g. subspecies assignment, individual identification, parentage analysis, and mutation dating. He has developed a multiplex PCR system for microsatellite genotyping in the tiger and used it for subspecies identification in captive tigers with Bayesian clustering methods. He is also very interested applying computational approaches to evolutionary genomics and bioinformatics.
